The beautiful thing about fruit-infused water is that it’s hard to make it boring as there are just so many combinations available. Your imagination is your limit.

How long should I infuse the ingredients with the water?
A good rule of measure is to let your ingredients meld with the water 2-4 hours in the fridge, or even overnight. This’ll help your recipe reach it’s full flavour potential. For safety reasons in the summer, I wouldn’t recommend leaving it on the counter.
How long does fruit infused water last?
It can last up to 3 days if kept in the fridge, but I recommend drinking it within 24 hours.
Why does my fruit infused recipe taste bitter?
More often than not this happens when you are using citrus fruits. Ensure you are removing the pith, or the white fleshy part of the fruit.
Should I use room temp, warm or cold water?
You don’t want to use hot water as it will destroy the vitamins and enzymes that exist in the fruit. For best results and taste, use cold, filtered tap water.
Why drink fruit infused water? Are there any benefits?
First and foremost, taste is the best benefit of drinking (and eating!) fruit infused water. As I mentioned at the top of this blog post, a lot of my Fit Gals complain of how boring water tastes. This eliminates that excuse entirely.
Also, drinking at least 1/2 your body weight, in ounces, of water daily aids in weight loss. So by adding all this nutritious fruit, veggies and herbs to your water you are adding in nutrition. Good nutrition = a healthy, happy body.
Water also helps to:
- flush out toxins from your body
- boost your metabolism
- clears up your skin and beautifies your hair and nails
- keep your organs functioning smoothly
- reduce fatigue during your sweat sesh’s aka workouts
What should I store my fruit infused water in?
I recommend a good fruit infusing water bottle that is BPA-free or made of glass. These are your safest options.
Keep in mind that water, even fruit infused water is low in calories and higher in nutrients so you can drink to your heart’s content. Also remember that you should be aiming for 2-3L of water a day.
