Have you ever made a ham in the crock-pot? Espesh during holiday season???
A big glazed ham might not be your idea of a light meal, but it will be – in fact you’ll end up getting quite a few meals out of it. How about a thick slice of glazed ham and some steamed, grilled or baked asparagus for dinner the first night? Then fix a big chef salad with some of the ham chopped up, a little shredded cheese and a boiled egg for lunch the next day. And speaking of eggs, a ham and cheese omelet is a favourite around here for breakfast, lunch or dinner. In other words, cooking a whole ham makes a lot of sense any time of the year!
Sweet Mustard Ham
3 to 5 lb. cooked ham
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 TBSP Dijon mustard
3 TBSP orange juice
1 TBSP cold water
1 TBSP cornstarch
Place ham in crockpot.
In separate bowl, mix together brown sugar, mustard, and orange juice.
Pour mixture over ham, put cover on crockpot, and cook on HIGH for 1 hour.
Turn crockpot down to LOW temperature and cook for 6 to 7 hours.
Remove ham from crockpot and keep warm, and turn crockpot to HIGH.
Mix cold water and cornstarch in small bowl until corn starch is dissolved.
Whisk corn starch mixture into drippings in crockpot, cook until sauce begins to thicken, whisking several times.
Serve ham with thickened glaze spooned over slices.
Was this as good as you hoped? How did you switch it up to make it “yours”? Leave a comment b’low and share how it turned out!
